This is the last workshop that the boys were in the Louvre. Comic fans, they loved the workshop. The host was very friendly, crucial for the success of a business.

Since then, Simon has discovered a new passion: the creation of BD

Monet's garden at Giverny

 

Last Sunday we went to visit Monet's gardens at Giverny. It was very hot but the ride was very pleasant.

Firstly, towards Vernon, where we picnicked along the Seine. We found a very nice place with few people. To get there, go past Vernon Beach (without interest), cross the bridge, and it is right after the bridge on the right: big spaces to play, tables, trees for shade .

Then to Giverny : it is imperative to buy tickets before on fnac.com, you avoid the queue at least one hour!

Here, you walk in the very fresh gardens. All the flowers were in bloom, even the famous waterlilies: a wonderfull place

You also visit Monet's house.

In all, it takes one hour visit.

We went back home because it was really too hot especially for Anthony, our baby,  but we had planned to go to Auvers sur Oise, the village of Van Gogh.

Brunch with your kids in Paris

Lots of people come to my French blog through Google as they search for places to brunch with their kids, and I also have a hard time finding nice places. By chance, I've just found a site that lists addresses of brunch in Paris area : bruncher.com

There is a section for children. While we do not like "The Hall of Birds" in Jardin d'Acclimatation or "Café de la Jatte", there is a bunch of addresses we haven't tested yet !

Feel free to leave comments on the addresses given, they will be useful to everyone.

You may like this place we discovered recently: "The Parisian coffee," in Neuilly, Sablonville street: It is an American restaurant with brunch on weekends. The hamburger and Caesar salad we had were perfect, we'll get there very soon to test the the brunch with the kids.

They also have 2 other restaurants inside Paris, never been there, please let me know your opinion !

Visit to the Musée des Arts et Metiers

 
My parents and the children went yesterday to attend a tour at the Museum of Arts and Trades. They were delighted by this workshop.

Indeed, this museum offers free guided tours for families every Sunday at 10:30 for an hour, according to themes change each week.

The visit is for children from 7 years but Simon, 5 years was also interested in explanations and very well follow the speaker.

The theme was "When the images come alive." They learned the birth of photography and film and its evolution to the present.

Strange robot.

This museum is not well known as the Louvre and Orsay, they found themselves alone with the guide for a private tour: great!

However, I had booked the brunch at the restaurant of the museum was, by my parents, a true disaster both for the food and the delivery service.

Cathedrale Notre Dame de Paris

The heart of Paris, in July-August, with fewer people, less cars, I love. Every year, we really appreciate these walks in the center of the capital.

If you are with your children, I invite you to visit to "Notre Dame de Paris".

Indeed, throughout the summer of 2009, young volunteers from around the world, as every year, spend a few weeks "in the shadow of Notre-Dame" in the international community to Home.

They provide a host of pilgrims and visitors by offering to accompany them in a discovery of Notre-Dame de Paris, for his spiritual message through its history, its architecture, stained glass, the facade ...

This summer 2009, more than twenty young people from France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Spain, Italy, Poland and Russia which offer, Monday to Friday, visits in french, English, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Russian.

These tours are offered by the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, and thus free, and they last about one hour. Recipients can at the end of the visit, if they wished, make a donation to the Cathedral to participate in the accommodation costs of these young volunteers.

The point of information / appointment is behind the pulpit (see map above). Schedules and language visits were subject to change daily, so it is best to call the home to the cathedral to know: 01 42 34 56 10. These tours are offered Monday through Friday for Saturday and Sunday.

 

Children's workshop in Quai Branly Muséum

Yesterday, we went to the Musée du Quai Branly with children. We have lunch at the coffee Branly. Simon participated at the children's workshop : "Doudou" Valentine, Felix and I have listened to a story we tell the adventures of a little girl named Rena, who travels America in search of his lost shaman. Indeed, the museum offers 5 narrated visits for family, one per continent presented in the museum: Asia, Africa, Oceania, North Africa and America. These visits last one hour and are really passionate children, a great way to make them love museums. The guide, disguised in traditional dress, tells the journey of Rena which begins in North America, where she used to hunt seals to protect against the cold and eat. Rena then gives us a traditional dance to a pole, then to her announcement that the shaman of his tribe is lost and must find it. Arming of courage, Rena began to walk across the continent: It comes down to reach the Amazon in South America, then goes back to the Caribbean islands. Advice helped various wizards, we discover during the journey the Incas, Mayas, Astèques the Mastèques, cross the Andes, talk to animals who are asking us to explain to people to stop destroying their environment ..... We discover a dozen works from the museum (Party America) and the legend that Rena will, at the end of his journey, the shaman long sought. Visiting Louvre with your family

We went to the Louvre last Saturday for a visit on "the stories of ancient Egypt, 7-12 years", program from the family visit in the Louvre. "

I was a little scared of theme for this workshop because I was afraid that the children are bored but it was just the opposite, and more.

We have been fortunate to have an extraordinary speaker, Sandrine. This outstanding narrator took us over an hour and a half, 3000 BC, through the stories of Egypt. At the same time funny and expressive, we've all been captivated by all these stories.

For example, we discovered that the fable of The Fontaire "The lion and the rat" was simply a repetition of an Egyptian story, how mummification was created, how the gods have prevailed among men and then ceased to govern the Egypt ...

At the end, everyone wanted to continue the stories, especially as Sandrine ended on a never ending story because Egyptologists have not found the papyrus ending. Children were stopping and asking our best cultural visit with children and without children elsewhere!
